Every
player receives three cards in all - 2 cards face down and 1
card face up.
The player with the low card starts the betting.
Each player has three options: call, raise, or fold. But in all
rounds after the first, the player with the best hand bets first.
If hands tie, the Player to the left of the dealer acts first.
The
betting in this round is equal to at least half the minimum bet
for the game.
Now each player is then given 3 face-up cards with
a betting round following each card.
It is the betting increments
that determine the amount of bets in each round. In a game where
there is a $2 and $4 betting increment, the first two rounds
of betting and raising are set at the lower level of $2 and the
remaining three rounds are set at the higher level of $4.
However,
there is an exception to this rule. It comes into picture when
a player displays a pair with their 2 face-up cards on 4th
Street. In such a situation, all players have two options:
to bet the lower limit or the higher limit. If a player bets
the higher limit, all raises thereafter are to be made at the
higher limit.
If players have folded, then in the betting rounds,
the first active player sitting to the left of the dealer will
act first.
The last card is given to the remaining players face
down. The final betting round happens now.
After the final betting
is over, the remaining players show their hands to everyone,
and the winning poker hand will be awarded the pot.
Suits are
not used in determining the winning hand.
Tied hands will split
the pot. The maximum allowable number of bets per player during
any betting round is four. This includes a bet, raise, re-raise
and cap.
