In
Stud 8 or better, players receive seven cards in all: Three of
those seven will be dealt face down, and the other four will
be ‘up' cards.
Once the initial bets have
been placed, each player is dealt three cards: two ‘down' cards and one ‘up'
card (Door card or Third Street).
The ‘up' card
that's the lowest, initiates the action.
One bet and three raises are allowed to every player in each
round of betting. For play to go on, players must act from
what is shown to them on each betting round (unless they are
all-in).
Once the first round of betting, one more
card is given face-up to all players that are still
there for the pot. This second round is called ‘Fourth
Street'.
From this round onwards, the hand that is the highest is
begins the action and that player has two options: to check
or to bet. If that player makes a single bet, the remaining
players can call, raise or fold.
Upon completion
of the second round of betting, another card is dealt
face-up to those who remain in the pot. This round is
called ‘Fifth Street'.
Here, the betting value is doubled and the same value remains
for the other rounds. The hand which is the highest starts
the action by checking or betting.
Once
the betting on ‘fifth street' is over, another card
is dealt face-up. This is called ‘Sixth Street' which
also is the fourth betting round.
The final card, also known as River
Card, is dealt down.
After the final betting is over, the remaining players show their
hands to everyone, and the winning poker hand will be awarded.
