Record turn-out for Bicycle Casino's Legends of Poker event

August 29

As with the growing popularity of online poker rooms, the ever-increasing availability of poker tournaments is stacking-up. The World Poker Tour is continuing to bring in the crowds of poker player to its events. This year's WPT Legends of Poker tournament is proof, too.

With a record breaking 839 players turning out this past weekend at the Bicycle Casino in So. California, it seems the poker craze is still full steam ahead. With that amount of players, the prize-pool stands at $4,195,000. The poker event stands as the largest ever on the WPT circuit. With fourteen events still on the calendar for the WPT's Season IV, potential growth is eminent.

First place for this year's Legends of Poker will net $1,125,000 for the lucky winner. In 2004, Doyle Brunson won the event. It attracted 667 players and a $3,335,000 prize pool.

This year's turn-out shows a 20% growth in the amount of poker players.

As of today, the leaders are Gabe Kaplan, Barry Greenstein and Jerry Buss. The poker game continues Tuesday at 4:15PM. We will keep you posted right here.
