Mississippi casino gambling gone for now
August 30
Our online
poker playing hearts go out to the the tens of thousands of
displaced people all over the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina. In Mississippi, the more than 10 casinos
that were in business are closed indefinitely. Leaving
thousands of casino workers out of a much needed job.
The
devastation is still being surveyed, but the information we
are already getting is staggering. Just one day after the
massive storm moved through the area we are learning that
the impact is unparalleled. Even if the casinos were in
operating order, there is not much call for casino gambling
since so many thousands of people are busy just trying to
find there way back to their homes. That is, if their homes
are even there still.
Today, the
Palace Casino Resort that until this past weekend, was a
casino hot-spot with a 14,000+ sq. ft. casino floor
and over 200 hotel rooms has literally sank into the Gulf of
Mexico. Camera crews witnessed the slow sinking of the
casino into the water that used to support it.
Following
the mass destruction, we will keep you updated on the news
information as it becomes available. Meanwhile, say a prayer
for those unfortunate souls who lost everything. Be thankful
that online poker rooms were not affected, too.
