Poker ring busted in Texas

August 11

In the state of Texas (and in most other US states), poker playing is completely legal as long as no money is wagered.

In Brownsville, BNB Poker Supply is in hot water. It seems that poker players at the company paid 5 bucks an hour to play poker there. While not actually wagering money on individual games, money was still changing hands. Additionally, by paying the entry fee, players were allegedly put into poker tourneys were they were able to win money.

It is being reported that 6 people were apprehended during the first poker raid in Brownsville's history. Eleven more poker players were issued tickets.

The raid was held on Tuesday evening and it is said that the poker supply company has been in business only since July.

Apparently, it is alleged that the company was holding illegal tourneys from the beginning of business and has been under surveillance for a while.

It is also being alleged that the place was making anywhere from 5 to 10 thousand dollars each night.

This is why people are lucky to live in countries that permit online poker or US states that allow casino gambling.
