This morning, online poker
players and poker players all around the globe learned the plan
for next year's World Series of Poker (WSOP), Harrah's
Entertainment, Inc. released the schedule for the 2006
WSOP. Harrah's will host the poker tournament at its Rio
All-Suite Hotel & Casino just a sit did this year.
Online poker players are happy
to know that satellites and live poker action will start
on June 25, 2006. The $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold'em
World Championship event starts on July 28, 2006. The
2006 World Series of Poker will be comprised of
forty-four different events where poker will be playing
for the World Series of Poker gold bracelets.
This year's WSOP broke the
record for the amount of players involved as well as the
amount of money won in a live poker event. Also this
year, the 45 poker tourneys involved with the WSOP generated
32,341 player entries and more than $106 million in
gross prize money. Aussie Joseph Hachem, won the
Championship and a whopping $7.5 million.
Additionally, Harrah's announced
the Rio will host the Second Annual World Series of
Poker Lifestyle Show July 27 through July 30. A trade
show featuring global exhibitors. The convention-type
event will feature hundreds of new poker products,
Internet sites, books and clothing. Last year, more than
50,000 people, including celebrities and athletes,
visited the show.
